Halflytely Bowel Prep Kit is prescribed by doctors for patients who need colon prep, prior to a colonoscopy procedure. This is a combination of two types of laxatives to induce bowel movement.

How to Take Halflytely
In every kit, the patient will get two 5 mg Bisacodyl tablets and a powder solution that the patient will need to prepare himself / herself, according to the packet’s instructions. On the day of the colon cleansing, the patient will first need to take the two Bisacodyl tablets with water.
The patient must make sure that he / she does not crush or chew the tablets. While waiting for the tablets to take effect, the patient can prepare the powder solution. Water has to be poured into the container up to the line indicated or according to the doctor’s instructions.
The solution can be refrigerated until the patient has taken it. For some people, chilling the solution makes it more palatable. Unless otherwise instructed by the doctor, the patient should take the solution after he / she has moved around a little, following the consumption of the Bisacodyl tablets.
This usually happens within one to six hours after taking the tablets. If the patient has not moved during this time, he / she may take the liquid solution after the sixth hour. The patient should take eight ounces of the liquid solution every ten minutes until he / she has finished the contents of the whole container.
The patient should not take any antacids within one hour of taking the colon prep tablets and solution.

Side Effects of Halflytely
After taking this bowel preparation kit, the patient may experience the following side effects:
- bloated
- nauseous
- light-headed
- abdominal pains
It is important to tell the doctor about these symptoms if they are persistent or if they worsen.
Other allergic reactions include:
- rashes
- hives
If the patient has a history of other medical problems, he / she should likewise tell the doctor about these, prior to taking Halflytely. Finally, the patient should tell the doctor if he / she is taking any maintenance medications for heart problems, blood pressure or kidney problems.
